The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, pears and quinces exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 15,073% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Nigeria was the main exporter of pears and quinces in Western Africa, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 69% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Senegal (X tons), comprising a 26% share of total exports. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Nigeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the pears and quinces exports, with a CAGR of +6.9% from 2012 to 2022. Senegal experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Among the main exporting countries, Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of -0.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -39.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a noticeable decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 126%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (+4.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Western Africa
In 2022, pears and quinces imports in Western Africa soared to X tons, with an increase of 40% compared with 2021. In general, imports recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 79% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, pears and quinces imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 85%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Senegal (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons) were the largest importers of pears and quinces in 2022, accounting for approx. 36% and 28% of total imports, respectively. Cabo Verde (X tons) held a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Mauritania (8.4%) and Cote d'Ivoire (5.7%). The following importers - Mali (X tons) and Ghana (X tons) - together made up 4.8% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Nigeria (with a CAGR of +26.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest pears and quinces importing markets in Western Africa were Senegal ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Cabo Verde ($X), together comprising 78% of total imports.
Nigeria, with a CAGR of +23.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -8.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 10%.
