In value terms, Senegal ($X) emerged as the largest plastic furniture fittings supplier in Western Africa, comprising 34% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Sierra Leone ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Togo, with an 11% share.

In Senegal, plastic furniture fittings exports increased at an average annual rate of +23.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sierra Leone (-4.7% per year) and Togo (-16.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 816% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sierra Leone ($X per ton), while Togo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Niger (+17.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Western Africa

After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of plastic fittings for furniture decreased by -10.2% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 97% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, plastic furniture fittings imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 80% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

Ghana (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons) dominates imports structure, together comprising 74% of total imports. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Togo (X tons). All these countries together held near 12% share of total imports. Cabo Verde (X tons), Guinea (X tons) and Senegal (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Cabo Verde (with a CAGR of +61.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ghana ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported plastic fittings for furniture in Western Africa, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Nigeria ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Cote d'Ivoire, with an 8.9% share.

In Ghana, plastic furniture fittings imports increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Nigeria (+4.3% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (+39.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, growing by 45% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible decrease. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cabo Verde ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
