Overall, exports, however, showed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 267% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, prepared additives for cements exports declined markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 270% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
Exports by Country
Cote d'Ivoire represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached 55% of total exports. Ghana (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 20% share, followed by Senegal (14%) and Nigeria (9.3%).
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to prepared additives for cements exports from Cote d'Ivoire stood at +15.1%. At the same time, Ghana (+36.0%), Senegal (+31.8%) and Nigeria (+7.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ghana emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +36.0% from 2012-2022. While the share of Ghana (+17 p.p.), Senegal (+11 p.p.) and Cote d'Ivoire (+8.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Nigeria (-6.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X) remains the largest prepared additives for cements supplier in Western Africa, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ghana ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Senegal, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Cote d'Ivoire totaled +6.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ghana (+29.3% per year) and Senegal (+19.5% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, falling by -7.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 120%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Nigeria ($X per ton) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while Senegal ($X per ton) and Ghana ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (+0.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Western Africa
For the sixth consecutive year, Western Africa recorded growth in purchases abroad of prepared additives for cements, mortars or concretes, which increased by 13% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 60%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, prepared additives for cements imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 60%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2022, Nigeria (X tons), Ghana (X tons), Senegal (X tons), Niger (X tons), Burkina Faso (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) and Guinea (X tons) represented the key importer of prepared additives for cements, mortars or concretes in Western Africa, committing 84% of total import.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Niger (with a CAGR of +50.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Niger ($X per ton), while Guinea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
