Mali (+42 p.p.), Togo (+12 p.p.) and Ghana (+4.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Niger saw its share reduced by -30.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mali ($X) remains the largest primary cells and primary batteries supplier in Western Africa, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Togo ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Gambia, with a 9% share.

In value terms, the largest primary cells and primary batteries importing markets in Western Africa were Ghana ($X), Guinea ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a combined 57% share of total imports. Sierra Leone and Liberia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.
