From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Cote d'Ivoire (X kg) and Nigeria (X kg) represented roughly 63% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Senegal (X kg), Ghana (X kg) and Cabo Verde (X kg), together achieving a 32% share of total exports. Burkina Faso (X kg) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Cote d'Ivoire (with a CAGR of +37.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Nigeria ($X), Cote d'Ivoire ($X) and Senegal ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 87% share of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +43.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -19.7% against the previous year. Export price indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, postcard export price decreased by -29.5% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 52%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while Cabo Verde ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Western Africa
In 2021, the amount of printed or illustrated postcards and printed cards imported in Western Africa rose rapidly to X tons, with an increase of 12% against 2020. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 27%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Nigeria (X tons) and Ghana (X tons) represented the major importers of printed or illustrated postcards and printed cards in 2021, resulting at near 36% and 29% of total imports, respectively. Sierra Leone (X tons) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Senegal (9.6%). The following importers - Mali (X tons), Togo (X tons) and Liberia (X tons) - each accounted for a 9.1% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Sierra Leone (with a CAGR of +30.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Senegal ($X), Ghana ($X) and Nigeria ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 65% share of total imports. Mali, Togo, Sierra Leone and Liberia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.
Among the main importing countries, Sierra Leone, with a CAGR of +21.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 21% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 65%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mali ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
