In value terms, Senegal ($X) remains the largest remote control apparatus supplier in Western Africa, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Togo ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Benin, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Senegal stood at -23.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Togo (+9.4% per year) and Benin (+41.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 9.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 149% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Benin ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Western Africa

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of radio remote control apparatus, when their volume decreased by -26.9% to X tons. In general, imports, however, recorded a slight expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 60% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, remote control apparatus imports declined rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 128% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Ghana (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) represented the key importers of radio remote control apparatus in 2021, accounting for near 35% and 24% of total imports, respectively. Mali (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Gambia (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 24% share of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Nigeria, with a 10% share.
