Cote d'Ivoire was the major exporter of soap and detergents in Western Africa, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Ghana (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Senegal (X%) and Nigeria (X%).

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to soap and detergent exports from Cote d'Ivoire stood at X%. At the same time, Ghana (X%) and Senegal (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ghana emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then declined slightly in the following year.

Ghana was the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which accounted for X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Mali (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Burkina Faso (X tons), Nigeria (X tons), Guinea (X tons), Togo (X tons), Gambia (X tons) and Niger (X tons), together achieving a X% share of total imports. Mauritania (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

Imports into Ghana increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Gambia (X%), Guinea (X%), Cote d'Ivoire (X%), Niger (X%), Mali (X%), Burkina Faso (X%), Nigeria (X%) and Mauritania (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Gambia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Togo experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Ghana (X p.p.), Gambia (X p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (X p.p.), Guinea (X p.p.), Mali (X p.p.) and Niger (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Togo saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
