In 2021, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -17.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 91% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while Ghana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020, and then declined notably in the following year.

In value terms, straight saw blade imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 86% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Nigeria dominates imports structure, recording X tons, which was near 69% of total imports in 2021. Ghana (X tons) held a 7.9% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Togo (6.4%), Mali (5.2%) and Mauritania (4.9%). Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to straight saw blade imports into Nigeria stood at +15.2%. At the same time, Togo (+23.1%), Mauritania (+10.0%) and Ghana (+6.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Import Prices by Country

The import price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 84% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced slump. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
