From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, table knife exports totaled $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 112%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Ghana represented the major exporter of table knives in Western Africa, with the volume of exports resulting at X units, which was near 59% of total exports in 2022. Niger (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 28% share, followed by Cote d'Ivoire (6%). The following exporters - Sierra Leone (X units) and Senegal (X units) - each recorded a 4.1% share of total exports.
Ghana was also the fastest-growing in terms of the table knives exports, with a CAGR of +25.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cote d'Ivoire (+17.3%) and Niger (+7.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Sierra Leone (-6.7%) and Senegal (-23.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Ghana, Niger and Cote d'Ivoire increased by +52, +11 and +4.5 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, the largest table knife supplying countries in Western Africa were Niger ($X), Ghana ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X), together accounting for 90% of total exports.
Ghana, with a CAGR of +17.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per unit, declining by -4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Niger ($X per unit), while Ghana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Niger (-0.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Western Africa
In 2022, the amount of table knives imported in Western Africa surged to X units, picking up by 22% on the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 103% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, table knife imports shrank slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a modest expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 85% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Nigeria (X units) represented the major importer of table knives, creating 38% of total imports. Cote d'Ivoire (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Ghana (X units), Benin (X units), Senegal (X units) and Guinea (X units). All these countries together held approx. 52% share of total imports. Cabo Verde (X units) took a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to table knife imports into Nigeria stood at +1.1%. At the same time, Guinea (+32.0%) and Senegal (+9.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guinea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +32.0% from 2012-2022. Cote d'Ivoire experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Cabo Verde (-1.4%), Benin (-5.4%) and Ghana (-8.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal and Cote d'Ivoire increased by +8.1, +6.6, +5.3 and +2.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Ghana ($X), Cote d'Ivoire ($X) and Nigeria ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 57% of total imports. These countries were followed by Senegal, Guinea, Benin and Cabo Verde, which together accounted for a further 34%.
Guinea, with a CAGR of +29.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -21.1% against the previous year. Import price indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 99%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
