Ghana was the major exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded 60% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), comprising a 37% share of total exports. Nigeria (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Nigeria (with a CAGR of +42.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In value terms, Ghana ($X) remains the largest wood tool supplier in Western Africa, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a 24% share of total exports.

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of tools of wood increased by 30% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 203%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wood tool imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 248%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Ghana (X tons), distantly followed by Senegal (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Mauritania (X tons), Nigeria (X tons) and Benin (X tons) represented the largest importers of tools of wood, together committing 90% of total imports. Guinea (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
