In 2021, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, growing by 3.8% against the previous year. Export price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, uncoated kraft liner export price decreased by -16.5% against 2018 indices. Imports in Western Africa

In 2021, approx. X tons of uncoated kraft liner were imported in Western Africa; with a decrease of -12% against the year before. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, uncoated kraft liner imports rose modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a mild downturn. In 2021, Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), distantly followed by Ghana (X tons), Nigeria (X tons) and Senegal (X tons) were the major importers of uncoated kraft liner, together creating 94% of total imports. Togo (X tons) held a little share of total imports.

In value terms, the largest uncoated kraft liner importing markets in Western Africa were Cote d'Ivoire ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Ghana ($X), with a combined 87% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Senegal and Togo, which together accounted for a further 11%.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
