The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 1,250% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a prominent expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per ton), while Guinea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, vapour generating boiler imports dropped to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 186% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

The purchases of the three major importers of vapour generating boilers, namely Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Senegal (X tons), Mauritania (X tons), Guinea-Bissau (X tons) and Niger (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Guinea-Bissau (with a CAGR of +26.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest vapour generating boiler importing markets in Western Africa were Ghana ($X), Cote d'Ivoire ($X) and Nigeria ($X), together accounting for 82% of total imports. These countries were followed by Senegal, Niger, Mauritania and Guinea-Bissau, which together accounted for a further 11%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Guinea-Bissau, with a CAGR of +42.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, growing by 2.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by 42% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Niger ($X per ton), while Guinea-Bissau ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
