Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 110% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, vegetable puree exports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 68%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Exports by Country
Mali prevails in exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 96% of total exports in 2022. Togo (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Mali was also the fastest-growing in terms of the vegetable puree exports, with a CAGR of +34.7% from 2012 to 2022. Togo (-14.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Mali and Togo increased by +55 and +4.1 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Mali ($X) remains the largest vegetable puree supplier in Western Africa, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Togo ($X), with a 3.3% share of total exports.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mali ($X per ton), while Togo amounted to $X per ton.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of vegetable puree, when their volume decreased by -19.9% to X tons. In general, imports recorded a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, vegetable puree imports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 42%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Mali (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Mauritania (X tons), Nigeria (X tons), Senegal (X tons) and Togo (X tons) was the largest importer of vegetable puree in Western Africa, mixing up 88% of total import. Cabo Verde (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Mali (with a CAGR of +55.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, the largest vegetable puree importing markets in Western Africa were Cote d'Ivoire ($X), Mali ($X) and Senegal ($X), with a combined 59% share of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Mali, with a CAGR of +60.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

In 2022, the import price in Western Africa amounted to $X per ton, waning by -1.7% against the previous year. Import price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, vegetable puree import price increased by +1.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 40% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Senegal ($X per ton), while Cabo Verde ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mauritania (+6.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
