Video Monitor Market Size in Western Africa

After three years of growth, the West African video monitor market decreased by -9.4% to $X in 2021. Senegal was the key exporter of video monitors in Western Africa, with the volume of exports accounting for X units, which was near 40% of total exports in 2021. Nigeria (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 17% share, followed by Cote d'Ivoire (13%), Liberia (7.9%) and Ghana (6.7%). Burkina Faso (X units) and Niger (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Senegal increased at an average annual rate of +22.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Cote d'Ivoire (+37.5%), Liberia (+32.7%), Burkina Faso (+31.0%), Niger (+13.2%) and Ghana (+12.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cote d'Ivoire emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +37.5% from 2012-2021. Nigeria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Senegal (+26 p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (+11 p.p.), Liberia (+6.6 p.p.), Burkina Faso (+3.3 p.p.) and Ghana (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Nigeria (-21.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest video monitor supplying countries in Western Africa were Liberia ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a combined 56% share of total exports.

Liberia, with a CAGR of +47.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Western Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -9.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 44%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Liberia ($X per unit), while Senegal ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, video monitor imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a noticeable downturn. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Cote d'Ivoire (X units), distantly followed by Senegal (X units), Nigeria (X units) and Ghana (X units) represented the major importers of video monitors, together comprising 86% of total imports. The following importers - Mali (X units), Burkina Faso (X units) and Togo (X units) - together made up 7.2% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Mali (with a CAGR of +35.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
