From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to silk fabric exports from Togo stood at +26.0%. At the same time, Senegal (+38.9%), Mali (+30.4%) and Ghana (+26.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Senegal emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of +38.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Nigeria (-18.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Togo, Senegal, Ghana and Mali increased by +50, +13, +11 and +3.1 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, the largest silk fabric supplying countries in Western Africa were Togo ($X), Senegal ($X) and Nigeria ($X), with a combined 90% share of total exports.

Senegal, with a CAGR of +34.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, imports showed a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 22,442%. The volume of import peaked at X square meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, silk fabric imports contracted to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 329% against the previous year.
