The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 40% against the previous year. Italy represented the main exporter of threshing machinery except combine harvester-threshers in the world, with the volume of exports accounting for X units, which was near 32% of total exports in 2022. While the share of Italy (+10 p.p.), China (+9.1 p.p.), Turkey (+8.4 p.p.), the UK (+5.5 p.p.) and Russia (+2.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2022, the share of Belarus (-45.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Italy ($X) remains the largest threshing machinery supplier worldwide, comprising 44% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the UK ($X), with a 13% share of global exports. It was followed by Belarus, with an 8.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Italy amounted to +3.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (+38.4% per year) and Belarus (-19.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average threshing machinery export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 15% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while Turkey ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

By contrast, Ukraine (-4.9%), Argentina (-12.1%) and Russia (-28.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kazakhstan (+16 p.p.), Sudan (+8.4 p.p.), the United States (+6.2 p.p.), Romania (+4.2 p.p.), Nepal (+2.5 p.p.), Bulgaria (+2.4 p.p.) and Tanzania (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Argentina and Russia saw its share reduced by -6.7% and -52.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest threshing machinery importing markets worldwide were Russia ($X), the United States ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X), with a combined 50% share of global imports. Romania, Argentina, Ukraine, France, Nepal, Bulgaria, Sudan, Poland, Tanzania and Iraq lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Tanzania, with a CAGR of +39.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average threshing machinery import price amounted to $X per unit, approximately equating the previous year. In general, import price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, threshing machinery import price increased by +52.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 38%. Global import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
