The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Global exports peaked at X tons in 2019, and then dropped slightly in the following year.
In value terms, alcohols exports fell markedly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, exports attained the peak of $X. from 2012 to 2020, the growth of global exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2020, Saudi Arabia (X tons), distantly followed by Trinidad and Tobago (X tons), the U.S. (X tons), Oman (X tons), Iran (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) represented the major exporters of alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives, together comprising X% of total exports. Malaysia (X tons), Canada (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Russia (X tons), Germany (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Saudi Arabia increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, Oman (+X%), the United Arab Emirates (+X%), the U.S. (+X%), Malaysia (+X%), Iran (+X%), the Netherlands (+X%), Trinidad and Tobago (+X%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+X%), Singapore (+X%) and Canada (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. By contrast, Russia (-X%) and Germany (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Oman (+X p.p.), the U.S. (+X p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+X p.p.), Iran (+X p.p.) and Malaysia (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2007-2020, the share of Germany (-X p.p.) and Russia (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The average alcohols export price stood at $X per ton in 2020, reducing by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Trinidad and Tobago ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
