The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. In 2022, Canada (X tons), followed by China (X tons), Bahrain (X tons), Spain (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), France (X tons) and Austria (X tons) represented the key exporters of aluminium alloy wire, together creating 59% of total exports. The average aluminium alloy wire export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 16%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while Austria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. Global imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aluminium alloy wire imports soared to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the United States (X tons), distantly followed by France (X tons), Cambodia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented the major importers of aluminium alloy wire, together achieving 32% of total imports. The following importers - Tanzania (X tons), Finland (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Italy (X tons), China (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Brazil (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Spain (X tons) - together made up 27% of total imports.
The United States experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of aluminium alloy wire. At the same time, Cambodia (+47.6%), Finland (+22.3%), Tanzania (+19.7%), Japan (+15.6%), France (+12.1%), China (+7.8%), Turkey (+5.7%), Malaysia (+5.2%) and Spain (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +47.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Brazil (-6.2%), Germany (-8.6%) and Italy (-9.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Cambodia (+4.7 p.p.), France (+3.4 p.p.), Tanzania (+3.3 p.p.), Finland (+3.2 p.p.), Japan (+1.8 p.p.), the United States (+1.8 p.p.) and China (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2022, the share of Brazil (-1.9 p.p.), Italy (-5.2 p.p.) and Germany (-6.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aluminium alloy wire worldwide, comprising 19% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with an 8.6% share of global imports. It was followed by China, with a 4.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in the United States stood at +4.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: France (+17.6% per year) and China (+7.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average aluminium alloy wire import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%.
