The global apricot market contracted to $X in 2022, declining by -3.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. The global exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Exports by Country

Turkey (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Italy (X tons) represented roughly 59% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Greece (X tons), generating a 6.6% share of total exports. The following exporters - France (X tons), Afghanistan (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Serbia (X tons), Jordan (X tons), Moldova (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons), Armenia (X tons) and the United States (X tons) - together made up 23% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Moldova (with a CAGR of +17.1%), while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Spain ($X), Italy ($X) and Turkey ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 62% of global exports. France, Greece, Jordan, the United States, Armenia, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Serbia, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.

Serbia, with a CAGR of +12.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average apricot export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -13.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 25%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, global imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, apricot imports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 20%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. Russia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented roughly 34% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Pakistan (X tons) and Iraq (X tons), together achieving a 15% share of total imports. Austria (X tons), France (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Romania (X tons), Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Iraq (with a CAGR of +20.2%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Russia ($X) and Austria ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 43% share of global imports. France, the UK, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.

Romania, with a CAGR of +18.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average apricot import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -15.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 22%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
