At the same time, Guatemala (+67.3%), Saudi Arabia (+33.1%), Egypt (+31.7%), Turkey (+9.1%), Spain (+5.9%) and Thailand (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guatemala emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +67.3% from 2012-2021. South Africa experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Brazil (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Egypt (+12 p.p.), China (+6.9 p.p.), Guatemala (+3.1 p.p.) and Turkey (+2.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Brazil saw its share reduced by -2.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest barbed wire supplier worldwide, comprising 52% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Egypt ($X), with a 13% share of global exports. It was followed by Spain, with a 5.1% share.

In China, barbed wire exports increased at an average annual rate of +16.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Egypt (+35.2% per year) and Spain (+9.7% per year).

The average barbed wire export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 16% against the previous year. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, the United States (X tons), Spain (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) was the main importer of barbed wire and entanglements in the world, constituting 18% of total import. The following importers - Portugal (X tons), Honduras (X tons), Nicaragua (X tons), Bolivia (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Mozambique (X tons), Brazil (X tons), France (X tons), Chile (X tons) and the Dominican Republic (X tons) - together made up 25% of total imports.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average barbed wire import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 27% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
