Base Station Market Size

In 2021, the global base station market decreased by -0.1% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after five years of growth. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the global market hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, base station production dropped to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 5.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global production hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, shipments abroad of base stations was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2014, thus ending a six-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 19%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the global exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, base station exports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 11% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the global exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

China represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 52% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Hungary (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons), together committing a 21% share of total exports. The UK (X tons), Brazil (X tons), Italy (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of base stations. At the same time, Vietnam (+83.6%) and Italy (+11.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +83.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the UK (-3.1%), Hungary (-4.1%), Brazil (-4.4%), Taiwan (Chinese) (-8.2%), Hong Kong SAR (-16.0%), Sweden (-22.1%) and the Netherlands (-23.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China, Hungary, Italy, the UK, Vietnam and Brazil increased by +32, +6.4, +1.9, +1.9, +1.6 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest base station supplier worldwide, comprising 46% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hungary ($X), with a 12% share of global exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China amounted to -6.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Hungary (+4.2% per year) and Vietnam (+61.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average base station export price amounted to $X per ton, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 40% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+13.6%), while the other global leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Japan (X tons), Russia (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Italy (X tons) represented roughly 49% of total imports in 2021. The following importers - the United States (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Ghana (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons) - together made up 14% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ghana (with a CAGR of +27.4%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Japan ($X), Russia ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 37% share of global imports. Indonesia, Malaysia, Italy, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, Colombia, Hungary and Ghana lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Colombia, with a CAGR of +11.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average base station import price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -6.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 8.5% against the previous year. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then fell in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
