Beeswax Production

In value terms, beeswax production shrank to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the production volume increased by 9.6% against the previous year. India (X tons) remains the largest beeswax producing country worldwide, accounting for 28% of total volume. Moreover, beeswax production in India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, China (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Ethiopia (X tons), with a 6.4% share.

In India, beeswax production remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: China (+0.0% per year) and Ethiopia (+1.2% per year).

Global beeswax exports reduced to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -7.7% against the previous year's figure. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 20%. The global exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, beeswax exports declined to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 19%. The global exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

China was the major exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at 43% of total exports. The United States (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 9.3% share, followed by Germany (9.2%) and Indonesia (5%). Vietnam (X tons), Tanzania (X tons), France (X tons), India (X tons), Spain (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and Togo (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Indonesia (+15.7%), Togo (+14.8%), India (+12.5%), Tanzania (+7.7%), Vietnam (+6.2%), Spain (+4.0%) and Germany (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +15.7% from 2012-2022. The United States and France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Argentina (-4.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of China, Indonesia, Germany, Vietnam and Togo increased by +8.1, +3.7, +1.8, +1.7 and +1.5 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest beeswax supplier worldwide, comprising 34% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 13% share of global exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 5.6% share.

In China, beeswax exports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (+3.5% per year) and the United States (-0.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average beeswax export price amounted to $X per ton, approximately equating the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 13% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Global beeswax imports expanded slightly to X tons in 2022, growing by 4.3% compared with the previous year. In general, total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -1.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, beeswax imports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. Global imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

France (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented the largest importers of beeswax in 2022, accounting for approx. 21% and 20% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by the United States (X tons), Benin (X tons) and India (X tons), together generating a 29% share of total imports. The following importers - Spain (X tons), Japan (X tons), Poland (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Serbia (X tons) - together made up 11% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Benin (with a CAGR of +29.5%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), the United States ($X) and France ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 55% share of global imports. Japan, Spain, Italy, Poland, India, Serbia and Benin lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +14.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average beeswax import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 6.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 43% against the previous year. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
