In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons), distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), Germany (X tons), Spain (X tons), China (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) represented the largest exporters of biodiesel, together mixing up 72% of total exports. Italy (X tons), the United States (X tons), France (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Canada (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +204.3%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Belgium ($X) and Germany ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 53% share of global exports. Spain, China, Argentina, Italy, Bulgaria, France, the United States, Poland, Malaysia and Canada lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, China, with a CAGR of +201.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average biodiesel export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 53% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, biodiesel export price increased by +67.4% against 2019 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Bulgaria ($X per ton) and Germany ($X per ton), while the United States ($X per ton) and Malaysia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

For the sixth consecutive year, the global market recorded growth in supplies from abroad of biodiesel, which increased by 9.1% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports showed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Imports by Country
In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons), distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), France (X tons), Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the major importers of biodiesel, together making up 71% of total imports. The UK (X tons), the United States (X tons), Canada (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +23.6%), while imports for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest biodiesel importing markets worldwide were the Netherlands ($X), Belgium ($X) and France ($X), together comprising 50% of global imports.
Belgium, with a CAGR of +25.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average biodiesel import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 49% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
