Other Cereals Production
In value terms, other cereals production rose modestly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2021 were Poland (X tons), Ethiopia (X tons) and Germany (X tons), together accounting for 58% of global production. France, Belarus, Spain, Guinea, Chad, China and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Spain (with a CAGR of +11.6%), while production for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In 2021, the global average other cereals yield declined slightly to X tons per ha, which is down by -3.3% on the previous year. Overall, the yield, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 7.9% against the previous year. As a result, the yield reached the peak level of X tons per ha. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the average other cereals yield failed to regain momentum. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.
In 2021, the global other cereals harvested area reached X ha, approximately equating 2020 figures. In general, the harvested area recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the harvested area dedicated to other cereals production attained the peak figure at X ha in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the harvested area stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the amount of other cerealses exported worldwide dropped sharply to X tons, shrinking by -19.3% on 2020. Overall, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +47.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 83%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
In value terms, other cereals exports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +26.3% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 50%. The global exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Poland prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 55% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Germany (X tons) and France (X tons), together making up a 17% share of total exports. Sweden (X tons), Peru (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Bolivia (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
Poland was also the fastest-growing in terms of the other cerealses exports, with a CAGR of +28.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Sweden (+21.9%), Belgium (+18.2%) and Peru (+17.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Bolivia, Germany, the Czech Republic and France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Poland, Sweden and Peru increased by +44, +2.5 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest other cereals supplying countries worldwide were Poland ($X), Peru ($X) and Bolivia ($X), with a combined 52% share of global exports.
Poland, with a CAGR of +26.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average other cereals export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 13%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Bolivia ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 90% against the previous year. In value terms, Germany ($X), the United States ($X) and Spain ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 43% share of global imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, France, Italy, Belgium, Portugal and Greece, which together accounted for a further 25%.
Greece, with a CAGR of +30.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average other cereals import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 5.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous year. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
