Overall, total exports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +60.3% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 22%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In value terms, non-electric chainsaw exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.

Exports by Country

China dominates exports structure, accounting for X units, which was approx. 81% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Sweden (X units), mixing up a 5.3% share of total exports. The United States (X units), Brazil (X units) and Japan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-electric chainsaw exports from China stood at +4.1%. At the same time, Brazil (+7.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +7.2% from 2012-2022. Sweden and Japan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the United States (-12.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+17 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2022, the share of the United States (-11.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest non-electric chainsaw supplier worldwide, comprising 54% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sweden ($X), with an 18% share of global exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 9.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to +2.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sweden (-0.4% per year) and Brazil (+6.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average non-electric chainsaw export price amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 1.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 12% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +56.8% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 23%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, non-electric chainsaw imports declined slightly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 24%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of non-electric chainsaw imports in 2022 were India (X units), Russia (X units) and the United States (X units), together accounting for 27% of total import. It was followed by France (X units), making up a 5.2% share of total imports. The following importers - Germany (X units), Italy (X units), Brazil (X units), Mexico (X units), Poland (X units), Ukraine (X units), Argentina (X units), Spain (X units) and the UK (X units) - together made up 28% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +21.9%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), France ($X) and Germany ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 25% share of global imports. Russia, Italy, Poland, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, the UK, India, Argentina and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

Among the main importing countries, India, with a CAGR of +16.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average non-electric chainsaw import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 6.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 6.6%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
