Over the period under review, the global exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2022, Chile (X tons) was the largest exporter of cherries and sour cherries, constituting 41% of total exports. Hong Kong SAR (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Turkey (X tons). All these countries together held near 30% share of total exports. The United States (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons), Spain (X tons), Greece (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cherries and sour cherries worldwide, comprising 50% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a 24% share of global imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 2.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China stood at +24.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Hong Kong SAR (+18.3% per year) and the United States (+11.4% per year).
