At the same time, Oman (+51.5%), Malaysia (+27.7%), China (+18.4%), Vietnam (+15.9%), Russia (+5.6%) and Japan (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +51.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Italy (-1.7%), France (-2.1%), Portugal (-2.8%), Germany (-2.9%), Poland (-6.5%) and Spain (-11.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+5.1 p.p.), Malaysia (+4.3 p.p.), Russia (+4 p.p.), Vietnam (+2.1 p.p.) and Oman (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2022, the share of Spain (-4 p.p.) and Turkey (-5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest concrete reinforcing bar supplier worldwide, comprising 21% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 7.2% share of global exports. It was followed by China, with a 6.4% share.

In Turkey, concrete reinforcing bar exports contracted by an average annual rate of -2.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (+2.4% per year) and China (+19.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average concrete reinforcing bar export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, concrete reinforcing bar export price increased by +66.3% against 2020 indices. The average concrete reinforcing bar import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 16% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, concrete reinforcing bar import price increased by +65.4% against 2020 indices.
