Degras Market Size

After two years of growth, the global degras market decreased by -0.7% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Global consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, degras production contracted slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The shipments of the three major exporters of degras, namely France, Indonesia and Italy, represented more than third of total export. In value terms, the largest degras supplying countries worldwide were Indonesia ($X), Italy ($X) and Belgium ($X), together accounting for 44% of global exports. The Netherlands, Romania, Germany, Malaysia, France, Ghana, Spain, Norway, Russia and Cote d'Ivoire lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 42%.

Ghana, with a CAGR of +59.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average degras export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 53% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, degras export price increased by +59.8% against 2019 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while Norway ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 53%. Global imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, degras imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports posted a remarkable increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Spain (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and France (X tons) represented roughly 59% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons) and Italy (X tons), together comprising an 18% share of total imports. The average degras import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 44% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine-year period.
