In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons) represented the key exporter of egg products, generating 30% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), Spain (X tons), the United States (X tons), France (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Germany (X tons), together committing a 42% share of total exports. Italy (X tons), China (X tons), the UK (X tons), Austria (X tons), Portugal (X tons) and Latvia (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.

The Netherlands experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of egg products. At the same time, Austria (+13.2%), Poland (+9.7%), Spain (+9.1%), China (+8.4%), the UK (+6.5%), Latvia (+4.2%), Italy (+4.1%), Portugal (+2.1%), France (+1.7%) and Belgium (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Austria emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +13.2% from 2012-2021. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the United States (-2.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+5.3 p.p.) and Spain (+4.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while the United States and the Netherlands saw its share reduced by -3.4% and -5.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest egg product supplier worldwide, comprising 29% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with an 8.7% share of global exports. It was followed by the United States, with an 8.5% share.

In the Netherlands, egg product exports shrank by an average annual rate of -1.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+8.6% per year) and the United States (-4.1% per year).

The average egg product export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 7.7%. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 15%. Over the period under review, global imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, egg product imports reached $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 13%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of global imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, the largest egg product importing markets worldwide were Germany ($X), the UK ($X) and France ($X), together accounting for 32% of global imports. Japan, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Poland and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Italy, with a CAGR of +6.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average egg product import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 4.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 18%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
