In value terms, gas supply meter exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. The global exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

China represented the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which recorded 30% of total exports. Italy (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Germany (X units), Poland (X units), Slovakia (X units) and Malaysia (X units). All these countries together held approx. 36% share of total exports. The following exporters - Romania (X units), Turkey (X units), Thailand (X units), Vietnam (X units), South Korea (X units), Japan (X units) and France (X units) - together made up 21% of total exports.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +12.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+128.4%), Thailand (+102.1%), Malaysia (+34.7%), Turkey (+25.0%), Italy (+20.6%), Romania (+20.3%), Japan (+15.1%), South Korea (+6.0%) and Poland (+5.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +128.4% from 2012-2021. France and Slovakia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Germany (-6.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+11 p.p.), Italy (+6.3 p.p.), Malaysia (+4.2 p.p.), Thailand (+2.9 p.p.), Turkey (+2.9 p.p.), Vietnam (+2.8 p.p.) and Romania (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2021, the share of France (-1.6 p.p.), Slovakia (-5.5 p.p.) and Germany (-18.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest gas supply meter supplying countries worldwide were Germany ($X), China ($X) and Poland ($X), together accounting for 39% of global exports. Malaysia, Italy, Japan, France, Slovakia, Vietnam, Romania, Turkey, South Korea and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.

Vietnam, with a CAGR of +78.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average gas supply meter export price amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, gas supply meter imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. In 2021, the average gas supply meter import price amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 5.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 6.8% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while Pakistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
