By contrast, Slovakia (-1.2%), Italy (-4.1%), Germany (-6.6%) and Ukraine (-12.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+33 p.p.), Tanzania (+6.8 p.p.), Russia (+5.3 p.p.), India (+3.4 p.p.), Croatia (+2.5 p.p.) and Hungary (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Ukraine saw its share reduced by -3.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest glass ampoules supplying countries worldwide were China ($X), Hungary ($X) and India ($X), together comprising 36% of global exports. Germany, Croatia, France, Italy, Russia, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine and Tanzania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.
Tanzania, with a CAGR of +59.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Spain ($X) and India ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 18% share of global imports. Algeria, Russia, Austria, Indonesia, Turkey, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Burkina Faso and Kyrgyzstan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
Burkina Faso, with a CAGR of +47.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average glass ampoules import price amounted to $X per thousand units, picking up by 12% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 38% against the previous year. Global import price peaked at $X per thousand units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
