Over the period under review, the global exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2021, Indonesia (X tons) was the largest exporter of crude glycerol, glycerine waters and lyes, committing 32% of total exports. Brazil (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Germany (X tons) and Spain (X tons). All these countries together took near 31% share of total exports. Malaysia (X tons), France (X tons), South Korea (X tons), the United States (X tons), Colombia (X tons), Poland (X tons), Portugal (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +28.4%), while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Indonesia ($X) remains the largest crude glycerol supplier worldwide, comprising 38% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 15% share of global exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6.4% share.
In Indonesia, crude glycerol exports expanded at an average annual rate of +26.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (+15.1% per year) and Germany (+6.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average crude glycerol export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 87% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) represented the largest importer of crude glycerol, glycerine waters and lyes, mixing up 48% of total imports. The Netherlands (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 11% share, followed by Germany (5.4%), India (4.6%) and Malaysia (4.6%). The following importers - Belgium (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) - together made up 11% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to crude glycerol imports into China stood at +11.9%. At the same time, Russia (+60.6%), India (+27.9%), Denmark (+15.9%), Malaysia (+7.7%), Belgium (+6.8%) and the Netherlands (+3.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +60.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Germany (-2.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+12 p.p.), India (+3.6 p.p.), Russia (+3.4 p.p.) and Denmark (+1.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of the Netherlands (-5.5 p.p.) and Germany (-8.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to +18.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+0.8% per year) and India (+36.9% per year).
