At the same time, Japan (+47.4%), Kuwait (+16.9%), the United States (+14.2%), South Africa (+5.1%) and the United Arab Emirates (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Japan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +47.4% from 2012-2021. Saudi Arabia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, France (-3.5%), China (-4.6%) and the UK (-20.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of India (+17 p.p.), Japan (+15 p.p.), the United States (+6.3 p.p.) and Kuwait (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2021, the share of China (-3.1 p.p.), France (-5.2 p.p.) and the UK (-25.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest handmade paper supplying countries worldwide were Japan ($X), China ($X) and India ($X), with a combined 58% share of global exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Japan, with a CAGR of +30.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average handmade paper export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 26%. While the share of France (+15 p.p.), the Netherlands (+4.4 p.p.), Solomon Islands (+3.3 p.p.), Burkina Faso (+2.3 p.p.) and Canada (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of the UK (-3.4 p.p.) and India (-4.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
