In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest hat and headgear supplier worldwide, comprising 30% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with an 11% share of global exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 9.5% share.
In China, hat and headgear exports contracted by an average annual rate of -9.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+6.8% per year) and Germany (+8.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average hat and headgear export price amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -47.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 14%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports by Country
The United States represented the largest importer of hats and other headgear in the world, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was near 32% of total imports in 2022. Belgium (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Greece (X units). All these countries together held near 16% share of total imports. The following importers - Australia (X units), South Africa (X units), Germany (X units), Bolivia (X units), the UK (X units), Mexico (X units), France (X units), Saudi Arabia (X units), Japan (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) - each finished at a 19% share of total imports.
Imports into the United States increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Bolivia (+45.9%), Greece (+44.0%), Belgium (+29.5%), Australia (+11.1%), South Africa (+10.2%), Mexico (+6.7%), the Netherlands (+5.2%), Germany (+2.8%) and Saudi Arabia (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bolivia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +45.9% from 2012-2022. France and the UK experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Japan (-2.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Belgium (+8.3 p.p.), the United States (+6.6 p.p.), Greece (+5.5 p.p.) and Bolivia (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Saudi Arabia, Germany, France, the UK and Japan saw its share reduced by -1.7%, -1.9%, -2%, -2.6% and -3.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hats and other headgear worldwide, comprising 32% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 6.9% share of global imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 5.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United States totaled +6.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (+6.3% per year) and Japan (+0.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average hat and headgear import price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -17.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 8% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
