The global exports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hot-rolled round stainless steel exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the global exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

The biggest shipments were from Germany (X tons), India (X tons), France (X tons), Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons) and China (X tons), together resulting at 71% of total export. The following exporters - South Korea (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Japan (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the United States (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Austria (X tons) - together made up 20% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +18.4%), while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest hot-rolled round stainless steel supplying countries worldwide were Germany ($X), France ($X) and Spain ($X), together accounting for 37% of global exports. India, Italy, China, Sweden, the United States, the UK, Japan, South Korea, Austria and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 53%.

Italy, with a CAGR of +16.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average hot-rolled round stainless steel export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 13% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 21% against the previous year. The global export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Overall, imports continue to indicate a mild increase. The average hot-rolled round stainless steel import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
