The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, consumption reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +56.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 64%. The global exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, skates exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +73.9% against 2018 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

China prevails in exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 76% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - France (X tons), Germany (X tons), Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) - together made up 14% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to skates exports from China stood at +1.9%. At the same time, Spain (+53.3%), France (+6.4%), the Netherlands (+5.1%) and Vietnam (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Spain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +53.3% from 2012-2021. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Italy (-1.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Spain (+2.4 p.p.) and China (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest skates supplier worldwide, comprising 63% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 4.4% share of global exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 4.1% share.

In China, skates exports expanded at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (+3.8% per year) and Italy (+1.4% per year).

The average skates export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 1.6% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, skates export price increased by +25.0% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 42% against the previous year. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +78.4% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

By contrast, Germany (-1.0%), Canada (-2.1%), Belgium (-2.3%) and Russia (-5.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The United States (+17 p.p.), the Netherlands (+2.9 p.p.) and Indonesia (+2.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Belgium, Canada, Germany and Russia saw its share reduced by -1.6%, -2.9%, -3.3% and -6.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 9% share of global imports. It was followed by Canada, with a 5.9% share.
