Global imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, lactam imports expanded modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 117%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of global imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Italy (X tons) and China (X tons) represented roughly 55% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), creating a 6.5% share of total imports. Switzerland (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Slovenia (X tons) and Canada (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported lactams from heterocyclic compounds worldwide, comprising 23% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 3.4% share of global imports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 2.6% share.
