In 2021, the amount of lifting equipment exported worldwide soared to X units, increasing by 21% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 99% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the global exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lifting equipment exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 36%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the global exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, China (X units), distantly followed by Germany (X units), the UK (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Italy (X units) were the key exporters of lifting equipment, together creating 58% of total exports. The following exporters - Belgium (X units), Slovenia (X units), the United States (X units), Vietnam (X units), Austria (X units), Spain (X units), Japan (X units) and India (X units) - together made up 22% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +18.7%), while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest lifting equipment supplying countries worldwide were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Belgium ($X), with a combined 36% share of global exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +13.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average lifting equipment export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -1.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 113%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of lifting equipment decreased by -77.5% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after four years of growth. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 180% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of global imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lifting equipment imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, global imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Aruba (X units) was the largest importer of lifting equipment, achieving 37% of total imports. Qatar (X units) took a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Canada (6.6%), Australia (5.2%) and Belgium (4.9%). The following importers - the United States (X units), Russia (X units), Singapore (X units), Mexico (X units), Sweden (X units) and Argentina (X units) - together made up 16% of total imports.

Imports into Aruba decreased at an average annual rate of -8.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Sweden (+29.1%), Argentina (+28.3%), Belgium (+21.7%), Singapore (+21.5%), Australia (+14.1%), Canada (+11.7%), Russia (+11.7%), Mexico (+9.1%), Qatar (+2.9%) and the United States (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Sweden emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +29.1% from 2012-2021. While the share of Qatar (+5.6 p.p.), Canada (+4.6 p.p.), Belgium (+4.2 p.p.), Australia (+3.9 p.p.), Russia (+2.4 p.p.), Singapore (+2.4 p.p.) and Sweden (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of Aruba (-32 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Belgium ($X), Sweden ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 20% share of global imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Sweden, with a CAGR of +26.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average lifting equipment import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 520% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild expansion. Global import price peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per unit), while Aruba (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
