As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

China was the major exporting country with an export of around X units, which resulted at 40% of total exports. Italy (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by the United States (X units) and Germany (X units). All these countries together took approx. 38% share of total exports. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The United States was the largest importing country with an import of about X units, which reached 23% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X units) and Russia (X units), together generating an 11% share of total imports. India (X units), Nigeria (X units), Turkey (X units), China (X units), South Korea (X units), Indonesia (X units), Germany (X units), Algeria (X units), Spain (X units) and Poland (X units) held a little share of total imports.
Imports into the United States increased at an average annual rate of +13.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+28.9%), Russia (+13.8%), Spain (+11.2%), South Korea (+10.0%), Nigeria (+8.5%), Algeria (+7.4%), Turkey (+7.1%), India (+6.6%) and Poland (+4.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +28.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Germany (-5.4%), China (-7.3%) and Indonesia (-10.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the United States, Vietnam and Russia increased by +12, +4.9 and +2.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machinery for making up paper pulp, paper or paperboard worldwide, comprising 18% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 4.7% share of global imports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 4.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United States amounted to +7.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+6.9% per year) and Vietnam (+14.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average paper making machinery import price amounted to $X per unit, approximately equating the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 7.3% against the previous year.
