Germany (X units), India (X units) and Australia (X units) represented roughly 57% of total exports in 2021. China (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by the United States (X units) and Singapore (X units). All these countries together took near 21% share of total exports. Italy (X units), Russia (X units), Belarus (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Australia (with a CAGR of +48.0%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest public works machinery supplier worldwide, comprising 50% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with an 8.7% share of global exports. It was followed by China, with a 7.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany totaled +3.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-4.4% per year) and China (+6.9% per year).

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 98%. Over the period under review, global imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to public works machinery imports into Qatar stood at +2.7%. At the same time, Singapore (+22.5%), South Korea (+20.2%), the United States (+11.4%), Canada (+9.9%), France (+8.8%) and Thailand (+4.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +22.5% from 2012-2021. The United States (+3.8 p.p.) and Singapore (+2.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Qatar saw its share reduced by -7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. In value terms, the largest public works machinery importing markets worldwide were the United States ($X), France ($X) and Canada ($X), with a combined 26% share of global imports. South Korea, Thailand, Qatar and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 4.2%.

In terms of the main importing countries, South Korea, with a CAGR of +11.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
