The following exporters - Singapore (X units), Hungary (X units), Belgium (X units), Poland (X units), Romania (X units), France (X units) and India (X units) - together made up 21% of total exports.

Exports from Italy decreased at an average annual rate of -8.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Romania (+29.5%), Bulgaria (+21.4%), China (+8.5%), Singapore (+7.2%), India (+4.0%) and the United States (+3.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +29.5% from 2012-2022. Indonesia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Poland (-3.4%), the Netherlands (-4.6%), Belgium (-6.6%), France (-11.9%) and Hungary (-12.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+7.2 p.p.), Bulgaria (+4.8 p.p.), Singapore (+3.1 p.p.), the United States (+3 p.p.), Indonesia (+2 p.p.) and Romania (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while France, Hungary and Italy saw its share reduced by -2%, -4.6% and -12.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Italy ($X) remains the largest tobacco making machinery supplier worldwide, comprising 38% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 6.8% share of global exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 5.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Italy totaled -4.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Indonesia (+20.5% per year) and Poland (-1.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average tobacco making machinery export price amounted to $X per unit, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, global imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, tobacco making machinery imports reduced slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to tobacco making machinery imports into the United States stood at +19.1%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+535.0%), Myanmar (+38.4%), Hungary (+30.3%), Singapore (+23.1%), the United Arab Emirates (+14.7%), the Philippines (+12.9%), the Dominican Republic (+10.4%), Russia (+9.2%) and Belgium (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +535.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Germany (-16.0%), Indonesia (-16.7%) and China (-20.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the United States, Myanmar, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Hungary, Uzbekistan and Russia increased by +28, +6.5, +5.3, +2.9, +2.3, +2.2 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), China ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 27% of global imports. Russia, Singapore, Hungary, the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Germany, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, Belgium and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.

Among the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +521.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average tobacco making machinery import price amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -4.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
