Hungary (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Tunisia (X tons), China (X tons), Italy (X tons), France (X tons) and Argentina (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by the Dominican Republic (with a CAGR of +29.9%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the largest maize oil supplier worldwide, comprising 28% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 12% share of global exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United States stood at -7.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+10.7% per year) and Brazil (+3.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average maize oil export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 16% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 33%. The global export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the Dominican Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+3.4%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after five years of decline, there was growth in overseas purchases of maize oil, when their volume increased by 0.8% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of global imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, maize oil imports contracted modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The United States (X tons), Kuwait (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Tunisia (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Libya (X tons) represented roughly 55% of total imports in 2022. The following importers - the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Germany (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons), Qatar (X tons), Greece (X tons) and Canada (X tons) - together made up 20% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Singapore (with a CAGR of +19.7%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest maize oil importing markets worldwide were Kuwait ($X), Singapore ($X) and Libya ($X), together comprising 26% of global imports.
Singapore, with a CAGR of +19.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average maize oil import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -1.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 42%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced slightly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan (+10.6%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
