The average maize export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 37%. The global export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Paraguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In value terms, the largest maize importing markets worldwide were China ($X), Japan ($X) and Mexico ($X), together comprising 29% of global imports. South Korea, Spain, Egypt, Italy, Vietnam, the Netherlands, Iran, Canada, Colombia and Algeria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

Canada, with a CAGR of +16.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average maize import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 5.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 28%. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
