Belgium (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Germany (X tons), Nicaragua (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +45.6%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest maltodextrine supplying countries worldwide were China ($X), France ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 36% share of global exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Thailand, Turkey, Belgium, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Slovakia and Nicaragua, which together accounted for a further 42%.

Thailand, with a CAGR of +31.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average maltodextrine export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 8.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while Nicaragua ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of maltodextrine and maltodextine syrup, when their volume decreased by -9.5% to X tons. Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +34.9% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, maltodextrine imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 21%. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) was the main importer of maltodextrine and maltodextine syrup, mixing up 25% of total imports. Germany (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by the United States (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons). All these countries together took near 22% share of total imports. France (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Mexico (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

While the share of China (+25 p.p.) and Indonesia (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belgium (-1.5 p.p.), the Netherlands (-2.2 p.p.), South Korea (-3.1 p.p.), Germany (-3.9 p.p.) and France (-5.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest maltodextrine importing markets worldwide were China ($X), Germany ($X) and the United States ($X), with a combined 26% share of global imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, China, with a CAGR of +34.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average maltodextrine import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a mild decrease. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
