In 2022, the global average yield of meat of camels and other animals declined slightly to X kg per head, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2022, Germany (X tons), followed by France (X tons), the United States (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) represented the key importers of meat of camels and other animals, together creating 57% of total imports. Italy (X tons), Austria (X tons), Switzerland (X tons), China (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Oman (X tons) and the UK (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +40.2%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 34% share of global imports. The Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Hong Kong SAR, Austria, China, Oman, the UK and Saudi Arabia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 46%.
In terms of the main importing countries, China, with a CAGR of +40.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 9.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 11%. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
