Imports into Morocco increased at an average annual rate of +25.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Myanmar (+38.3%), Cambodia (+33.4%), the Netherlands (+3.9%) and Belgium (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Myanmar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +38.3% from 2012-2021. The United States experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-1.5%), France (-2.1%), Ukraine (-3.9%), Italy (-5.3%), Germany (-11.4%), Russia (-14.5%) and Brazil (-16.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Morocco (+15 p.p.), Cambodia (+4.4 p.p.), Myanmar (+3.8 p.p.), the Netherlands (+3.8 p.p.), the United States (+2.2 p.p.) and Belgium (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Germany, Brazil and Russia saw its share reduced by -3.3%, -5.9% and -12.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest motorcycles and cycles with an auxiliary motor importing markets worldwide were Morocco ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and France ($X), together comprising 35% of global imports. These countries were followed by the United States, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Russia, Myanmar, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Cambodia and Ukraine, which together accounted for a further 32%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +24.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
