Hong Kong SAR (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an 11% share, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (7.5%) and Vietnam (6.8%). Mexico (X units), Malaysia (X units), Singapore (X units), Germany (X units), the United States (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Poland (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of network communications equipment. At the same time, Vietnam (+48.0%), Poland (+24.2%), Mexico (+14.9%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+9.4%), Singapore (+9.3%), Germany (+8.4%), Malaysia (+7.7%) and the Czech Republic (+3.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +48.0% from 2012-2022. The United States and Hong Kong SAR experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Netherlands (-5.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Vietnam, Taiwan (Chinese), Mexico, Poland, Malaysia and Singapore increased by +6.6, +3.6, +3, +1.7, +1.6 and +1.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X), China ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 64% of global exports. Malaysia, the Netherlands, Mexico, Taiwan (Chinese), Germany, Singapore, the Czech Republic, Vietnam and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +50.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average network communications equipment export price amounted to $X per unit, growing by 12% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.8%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Germany (+6.1 p.p.), Taiwan (Chinese) (+6 p.p.) and China (+3.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while the United States, the Netherlands and Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -2%, -3.8% and -10.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X), China ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 47% share of global imports. Germany, the Netherlands, Taiwan (Chinese), Mexico, the Czech Republic, Singapore, the UK, Poland, Russia and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.

Taiwan (Chinese), with a CAGR of +37.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
