South Africa (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Rwanda (with a CAGR of +23.2%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-wheat flour supplying countries worldwide were Thailand ($X), Mexico ($X) and the United States ($X), together accounting for 36% of global exports. Italy, Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, France, El Salvador, South Africa, Belarus and Rwanda lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.

Belgium, with a CAGR of +27.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +63.0% against 2012 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 17%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

In value terms, non-wheat flour imports stood at $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +70.1% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-wheat flour imports into the United States stood at +12.2%. At the same time, Lesotho (+24.3%), Democratic Republic of the Congo (+18.3%), the UK (+10.3%), Belgium (+8.5%), China (+6.3%), Spain (+6.2%), Russia (+5.8%), Germany (+4.9%), France (+2.8%) and Canada (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lesotho emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +24.3% from 2012-2021. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-wheat flours worldwide, comprising 15% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a 5.2% share of global imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 4.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United States totaled +10.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Spain (+4.2% per year) and Germany (+5.4% per year).
