The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 17%. The global exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, nucleic acid exports amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +63.4% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. At the same time, India (+13.7%), the Netherlands (+12.7%), Belgium (+12.7%), Japan (+10.7%), Spain (+5.2%), Switzerland (+4.7%), the United States (+3.7%), Indonesia (+2.5%), the UK (+2.3%) and Germany (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +13.7% from 2012-2021. Slovakia and France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Belgium (+7.1 p.p.), Japan (+2.2 p.p.), the Netherlands (+1.6 p.p.) and China (+1.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2021, the share of Germany (-1.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest nucleic acid supplying countries worldwide were China ($X), Germany ($X) and Switzerland ($X), together accounting for 33% of global exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Japan, Belgium, India, the Netherlands, the UK, Spain, France, Indonesia and Slovakia, which together accounted for a further 30%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, India, with a CAGR of +18.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In terms of the main importing countries, Belgium, with a CAGR of +33.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
