Parachute Market Size

In 2021, the global parachute market decreased by -0.6% to $X, falling for the sixth consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a pronounced reduction. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the global market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Parachute Production

In value terms, parachute production dropped modestly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, saw a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the production volume increased by 12% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2021, global production growth failed to regain momentum.

Global parachute exports soared to X tons in 2021, jumping by 17% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild decline. The global exports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, parachute exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the twelve major exporters of parachutes and rotochutes, namely Vietnam, the United States, France, China, Germany, South Korea, the UK, Spain, Thailand, South Africa, the Czech Republic and Canada, represented more than two-thirds of total export. Romania (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +17.1%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest parachute supplying countries worldwide were the United States ($X), Vietnam ($X) and the UK ($X), together accounting for 45% of global exports. These countries were followed by France, Germany, Canada, South Korea, Spain, the Czech Republic, Thailand, South Africa, China and Romania, which together accounted for a further 37%.

Thailand, with a CAGR of +20.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average parachute export price amounted to $X per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 20%. The global export price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then declined modestly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+7.8%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Parachute Imports

In 2021, global imports of parachutes and rotochutes rose remarkably to X tons, growing by 12% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, parachute imports rose sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 16%. Over the period under review, global imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The United States (X tons) and France (X tons) represented roughly 28% of total imports in 2021. It was followed by Germany (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and South Korea (X tons), together making up a 20% share of total imports. Italy (X tons), Austria (X tons), Switzerland (X tons), Spain (X tons), Canada (X tons), Australia (X tons), Colombia (X tons) and the UK (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +16.3%), while imports for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), France ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 35% of global imports. These countries were followed by Switzerland, Austria, South Korea, Canada, Italy, Australia, Spain, the UK, Colombia and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 33%.

Among the main importing countries, South Korea, with a CAGR of +18.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average parachute import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 2.3% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
